Ronald H Shear
After graduating from law school, Ron commenced his legal career as an associate with a boutique general practice and litigation firm in Denver, Colorado. Ron became a partner in that firm, a managing shareholder and a senior litigation shareholder prior to leaving the firm in 2000 to commence a new career as a computer network engineer.
Ron is an AV rated attorney and has 25 years of experience representing major insurance companies and self insured corporations involved in civil litigation. These issues involved insurance coverage, bad faith, personal and corporate liability, product liability, professional liability, personal injury, and construction cases. These cases have included the litigation and trial of major asbestos cases filed throughout the U.S. Among these cases are some of the first vinyl asbestos floor tile cases filed by school districts against manufacturers and, at the time of its filing, the largest single consolidated product liability case in the country involving over 12,000 plaintiffs.
Ron’s extensive experience includes investigating, managing and litigating complex mass tort consolidations and class actions against corporate clients. As such, he has been involved in the development of medical, scientific, industrial hygiene and technical defenses in these cases. During the course of his career, he has also litigated a variety of construction cases, lead poisoning cases, fraud and Ponzi scheme actions, products liability cases, personal injury and commercial and business issues.
As an adjunct to his litigation practice, Ron has engaged in litigation management and cost containment analysis for several Fortune 500 corporate clients’ litigation budgets. This included the active management of thousands of cases throughout the country where he was either the principal litigation attorney or managed local counsel. He has traveled extensively and appeared in numerous state and federal courts in West Virginia, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Michigan, Illinois, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma.
In addition to his extensive litigation practice, Ron brings to Davidson & Shear substantial experience in other practice areas such as business and corporate matters, estate planning, wills, trusts, subrogation, divorce and family issues and traffic offense matters. He is a trained and experienced Mediator in divorce and family matters, and all types of civil litigation, including construction matters.
Ron obtained his certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and has completed the necessary course work for his Cisco Certified Network Analyst certification. He has been trained and has experience in Oracle database administration, PL/SQL and Perl scripting. He has been a data analyst and network support engineer for AT&T Broadband and Comcast.
Ron graduated from the University of Colorado in 1969, BA and received his Juris Doctorate in 1975 from Gonzaga University.
